According to the survey in HealthDay News, February 27 indicates that more vitamin D than was initially thought to dramatically reduce the risk of several serious diseases, including breast cancer.

“We found that adults need to consume daily between 4,000 and 8,000 IU to maintain blood levels of vitamin D metabolites in the range needed to reduce the risk of several diseases such as breast cancer, colon cancer, multiple sclerosis and diabetes type 1, half, “said study co-author Dr. Cedric Garland, professor of family and preventive medicine at the University of California at San Diego, in a news release from the university.

Garland admitted he was surprised that the required levels were much higher than the 400 IU per day necessary to overcome rickets in the twentieth century.

Vitamin D supplements often come in pills or capsules containing between 1,000 and 2,000 international units. But taking between 4,000 and 8,000 IU a day is still much lower than the range considered safe by the National Academy of Sciences Institute of Medicine, the researchers said.

The study, which also involved the Faculty of Medicine at Creighton University in Omaha, was based on a survey of several thousand people who took supplements ranging from 1.000 to 10.000 IU per day. The volunteers also underwent blood tests to determine levels of metabolites of vitamin D circulating in the blood.

Some studies suggest that only 10 percent of the U.S. population has the appropriate level as related to vitamin D in the blood that prevents the disease associated with a deficiency of this vitamin. They tend to work outside, so their vitamin D levels increase with sun exposure.

Last year, a committee of the National Academy of Sciences and the Institute of Medicine (IOM) announced to take 4.000 IU per day of vitamin D seems safe for adults and children ages 9 and older.

However, the daily minimum recommended by the IOM is 600 IU; the Institute also noted that there were early signs that there could be some damage associated with consuming high levels of vitamin D a day, even in amounts below the recommended upper limit as insurance.

Garland and his colleagues suggested that 4,000 IU a day is a safe level.

“Now that we have the results of this study, taking 4000 IU per day will become commonplace for most adults,” Garland predicted in the press release. “This is below the 10,000 IU per day that the IOM Committee Report considered as the lower limit of risk, and the benefits are substantial.”

Studies claim that delaying the arrival of the first child is a predisposing factor for developing this type of tumor. A leading expert explained why this happens and how to prevent disease.

Breast cancer is one of the leading causes of death in women worldwide. Because of this, all over the world are carried out prevention campaigns, trying to raise awareness about the importance of consulting the specialist routine to prevent the development of this disease.

Nevertheless, beyond the annual realization of complete gynecological studies, there are social factors that influence the onset of the disease. Within this group is motherhood.

The prestigious Italian physician Umberto Veronesi, surgeon breast cancer and founder of the European Institute of Oncology, spoke with Infobae.com about the negative consequences that come with the arrival of a child as it is currently facing.

He explained that in the world the incidence of breast cancer increased because, in general, the postponement of motherhood.

“Women now have a greater risk, and the reasons are that they have fewer children and pregnancy protects against breast cancer. Also, start having children at older ages, “which also adversely influences, Veronesi said.

In that sense, specified that “women when they have young children do not have breast tumors, as has the number of children also suffer.”

Other factors that influence the development of the disease is feeding the baby, more and more away from the natural and closer to the milk bottles and industrialized. “Now breastfeeding is very low, contributing to this increase,” said the specialist.

The Key: Early Detection

Veronesi said that “unable to apply preventive therapies, science has focused on early diagnosis of this disease.”

In this regard, said the current utilization of mammography, ultrasound through ultrasound and magnetic resonance imaging, which allows “detect tumors up to five millimeters in diameter” very effectively.

“The appropriate age to start this type of detection is 30 years with ultrasound, the woman over 40 years, making mammograms, and those with genetic background or considers its genetic test or placed in a group high risk should begin before the age of 20 should have an MRI every five years “, stated the doctor.

Then, it is essential that women take charge of their breast health. To Veronesi, the best way is through three simple steps:

1 – That each knows best or depth within it.

2 – Acknowledge that this is a special disease, to cure if detected early and kills if it is discovered late.

3 – To deal with this with optimism, determination and will. “Many times the woman discovers or suspects that may have this condition and pretends not to have, so delay its consideration. And with that all you are doing is aggravating the situation, “he said.

“Women are the ones now in hand the management of this situation. No longer is a medical problem, a problem of the woman the one to use to make the diagnosis early, “he concluded Veronesi.

An analysis of data from nearly 80,000 women shows that snuff smoke exposure at work or at home for many years increases the chances of developing this tumor.

According to Argentina’s medical issue, researchers at West Virginia University, USA, say that women who do not smoke but are exposed to smoke from other people snuff are more likely to develop breast cancer, as published by the British Medical Journal.

Apparently, the investigation involved nearly 80,000 women and, according to its authors, the incidence of these tumors was 32% higher in those decades had been as passive smokers, a finding to be confirmed by further studies.

The relationship between passive smoking and breast cancer has always been a contentious issue because, while some studies like this were a relationship, there were others who refused because it was difficult to quantify the minimum exposure time which involved a risk.
In this study, women participants were between 50 and 79 years and, during the 10-year-long follow-up investigation, there were 3,250 cases of invasive breast cancer.

When women were asked about their smoking history and exposure to smoke snuff, it was observed that smokers had a 16% increased risk of developing breast cancer after menopause. For former smokers, the risk was 9% and remained for 20 years after quitting, being highest in those who had smoked for over 50 years.

What is surprising as highlighted by the authors of the study, women who had never smoked but lived with smokers or had worked for several years seemed to have a higher risk of breast cancer.

Thus, “after more than 10 years of exposure to snuff in childhood or as adults, after more than 10 years of passive smoking at work or at home 20, the risk increased by 32%.”

According to Dr. Rachel Greig, from Breakthrough Breast Cancer, the study suggests that “as soon as starting to smoke and the longer it takes to do so, the higher your chance of developing breast cancer.”

“We know that smoking has many health risks and is a major cause of lung cancer and heart disease, and encourage all women who do not smoke,” he concluded.

According to Michael Martin is chief of medical oncology service, the Gregorio Marañón, one of every ten Spanish women have breast cancer, making this disease a true public health problem. Breast cancer is also a continuing source of news as famous women are not free of suffering. The diagnosis of breast cancer still causes a great concern to patients and their families suffer, so that doctors and the media should take the opportunity to talk openly about the disease.

The review of current epidemiological data in Spain is very instructive. Spain shows survival rates in breast cancer are among the best in Europe and they are improving for 20 years. The reasons for this improvement are two: breast cancer screening campaigns and the introduction of modern treatments.

Mammography screening is the regular mammography in healthy women (without any sign or symptom) that are in an age of maximum risk, usually between 50 and 70 years. Thanks to these campaigns, it is estimated that 60% of cancers detected are in very early stages (carcinoma in situ or invasive carcinoma stage I). These stages are associated with a 5-year survival exceeding 95%. 25% of women are diagnosed with stage II (involvement of the breast and axilla) with a 5-year survival exceeds 85%.

Finally, a small group of women (the remaining 15%) are diagnosed at advanced stages and have, of course, worse prognosis. Importantly, the healing of breast cancer can be performed in most cases breast-conserving therapy involving simple tumor resection and radiotherapy. Moreover, the introduction of a diagnostic technique known as sentinel node biopsy avoids the removal of lymph nodes (and the risk of arm swelling involved) in most patients.

Individualized drug treatment complementary to surgery (chemotherapy, hormone therapy, biological therapies) minimizes the risk of relapse.

Overdiagnosed refers to the fact that the anomalies presented never provoke discomfort, symptoms and much less death.

In this regard, we note that it may be giving unnecessary treatment to women who do not need and could be wasting efforts that would be better spent on real cases that need urgent treatment.

Every year one million new cases detected breast cancer in the world. This is the most common cancer in women and that each year kills 400 000 patients.

Urges early detection of this disease and therefore it is recommended to women who are examined and periodically. Especially in the passing of 50 years. Breast cancer is curable if detected early. Several countries have implemented programs for older women to have carried out tests from time to time discard. It is also recommended that doctors do not order biopsies only with mammogram results. It is better to be sure it is really necessary.

The SRC-3 gene regulatory enzyme present in CHIP can prevent breast cancer spreading to other organs. Thus, this catalyst stops the spread of cancer and prevents other areas being affected

The test consisted of Tsukuba University in the administration of this enzyme in mice and the results were that his presence would stop the spread of cancer and encouraged his absence.

As we know the mortality caused by breast cancer is mainly because it spreads through the rest of the body without control. But with this discovery could be facing a new beginning in the treatment of this disease.

Are detected each year one million new cases of women with breast cancer and 400 000 die at the same time because of this evil.

Medical treatments are increasingly comprehensive and complex, which can raise the quality of life at an unexpected rate for 25 or 30 years.

Patients suffering from breast cancer are those who will benefit most from the technological improvements, especially in the field of molecular microbiology. According to a recent interview with Dr. Lourdes Calvo Spanish graphic by half within a short time you can start eliminating surgery as the primary option for treating breast cancer.

The main idea of this research is to achieve methods of treatment and cure for cancer diseases safer and more effective. For this reason studies are focusing on the development of individualized treatments, ie healing methods will be similar but in turn will differ from patient to patient.

In addition, Dr. Calvo said that soon a biopsy and genomic treatment will be more than enough for clinicians to know what kind of cancer they are dealing, in order to develop a specialized treatment, individual, and that allows patients to lead a normal life without suffering the side effects of chemotherapy or other similar practices.

Australian scientists have developed a surgical technique that could allow women suffering from breast cancer regenerate their breasts after a mastectomy, as reported by the Institute of Microsurgery ‘Bernard O’Brien’ of Melbourne (Australia) where he investigates the new technique.

The procedure, which could begin human trials within three to six months, involves inserting a breast-shaped chamber, which contains a sample of adipose tissue of women under the skin of the chest. This infiltration is connected to a blood vessel adipose tissue, allowing this to grow and fill the chamber in an estimated period of six to eight months.

From the center, the operations director, Dr. Phillip Marzelle, said today that it is launching a “test prototype” in the coming months that may be implemented through a “proof of principle” with five or six women, so you can see that the body can regenerate its own supply of fat in the chest.

In addition, plans to build within two years a camera biodegradable dissolved when full. “We have proven in several animal models, so we have made sufficient preclinical testing to be sure now to give way to human trials,” he said.

The development of the technique depends on the body’s own behavior and how it is able to fill internal voids, but “also may inject a gel-like substance to stimulate the growth of adipose tissue. “Nature abhors a vacuum, so that the camera itself, because it is empty, has to be completed by the body,” he said.

Women who participate in the tests must have undergone complete or partial mastectomy. The test does not seek to regenerate a whole breast, but to promote growth of adipose tissue in the affected area to demonstrate that the procedure is feasible.

According Marzelle the regenerative procedure could offer women an alternative to traditional breast reconstruction and implants after a mastectomy, but also could help repair other damaged areas of the body. “We hope to move to other organs using the same principle: a camera that protects and contains cells as they grow and resume their normal function,” he said.

Most tumors that occur in the breast are benign, not cancerous, and are due to fibrocystic formations. The cyst is a fluid-filled sac and fibrosis is an abnormal development of connective tissue. Fibrosis does not increase the risk of developing a tumor and does not require special treatment. The cysts, if large, can be painful. Removing the fluid with a needle usually take away the pain. The presence of one or more cysts does not favor the occurrence of malignant tumors.

Benign tumors are related mostly to genetic factors. Symptoms that occur are pain and inflammation but not spread to the rest of the body and are not dangerous. In malignant tumors, there are several types depending on the location of the breast where there is abnormal growth of cells and depending on their stage.

Tumors may be localized or have spread through the blood vessels or through lymph vessels, and have led to metastasize, a cancer in an organ distant to the original. Of all cases of breast cancer, only 7-10% of them start metastases.

The breast cancers are classified as:
Ductal carcinoma in situ in the cells of the lining of the breast ducts. It is a very localized cancer that has not spread to other areas or has metastasized. That is why this disease ‘premalignant’ can be removed easily. The cure rate close to 100%. This type of tumor can be detected through mammography.

Infiltrating ductal carcinoma (or invasive) is the one that begins in the milk duct but manages to pass through and adipose tissue of the breast and then can spread to other parts of the body. It is the most common breast cancers, occurs in 80% of cases.

Lobular carcinoma in situ arises from the mammary glands (or lobes) and, although not a true cancer increases the risk that women can develop a cátumor in the future. Usually occurs before menopause. Once detected, it is important that women have a mammogram every year and control several clinical examinations to monitor the possible development of cancer.

Infiltrating lobular carcinoma (or invasive) begins in the mammary glands but it can spread and destroy other tissues. Between 10% and 15% of breast tumors are of this type. This carcinoma is more difficult to detect through mammography.

The inflammatory cancer is a rare cancer, accounting for only 1% of all breast cancers. It is aggressive and fast growing. Ago breast skin reddening and increasing its temperature. The appearance of the skin becomes thick and hollow, like an orange, and can appear wrinkles and bumps. These symptoms are due to the blockade produced by cancer cells on the lymph vessels.

The breasts are composed of fat, connective and glandular. In this tissue are the milk producing glands which are born 15 or 20 mammary ducts, to carry milk to the nipple, surrounded by the areola. These lobules and ducts are located in the stroma, adipose tissue, which are also blood vessels and lymphatics. The breast tissues are connected also with a group of lymph nodes, located in the armpit. These nodes are key to the diagnosis of breast cancer, since cancer cells spread to other parts of the body through the lymphatic system. When speaking of sentinel node refers precisely to the node nearest to the place where cancer is located.

Breast cancer is abnormal and disordered growth of cells in this tissue. The breast consists of a series of mammary glands that produce milk after birth, and which are called lobes and lobules. The lobes are connected by pipes, ducts, which are the leading milk to the nipple during lactation, to feed the baby. The glands (or lobes) and the ducts are embedded in adipose tissue and connective tissue, which, together with the lymphoid tissue, forming the breast. As a retaining wall, pectoral muscle acts which lies between the ribs and breast. The skin covers and protects the entire breast structure.

The lymphatic system consists of containers and vessels or tubes that contain and carry the lymph, a colorless liquid consisting of white blood cells, mostly lymphocytes. These cells recognize any substance foreign to the body and release substances that destroy the offending agent.
