How to Avoid The Risk of Diabetes?

Diabetes is one of the most common diseases affecting the population, especially in those who do not have good, healthy eating habits.

Types of diabetes

- Type 1 Diabetes
Type 1 diabetics produce little or no insulin. This type of diabetes usually appears in childhood or youth and those who suffer from external sources need insulin your body to help control their blood sugar.

- Type 2 Diabetes
In this type of diabetes, the body does not produce enough insulin or can not use it properly. It is the most common variant of the disease that usually appears in adulthood. Often can be controlled with diet and exercise, but other times, it takes pills and even injections of insulin.

- Gestational Diabetes
It affects some pregnant women and usually disappears after delivery. Often recur in future pregnancies (two of every three cases). Having suffered from gestational diabetes increases the risk for type 2 diabetes later.

Main symptoms of diabetes
• High levels of blood sugar and urine
• Frequent urination
• Abundant hunger and thirst
• Weight loss, weakness and fatigue
• Irritability and mood swings
• Feeling sick in the stomach and vomiting
• Vista cloudy
• Cuts and scrapes do not heal or heal very slowly
• Itching or tingling in hands or feet
• Frequent and recurring skin, gum or bladder

Recommendations for exercise practice

Exercise recommended for people with diabetes is the low resistance such as hiking, biking, tennis and practice of some team sports such as soccer.

For older people are recommended moderate exercise activities such as hiking, golfing or gardening. They are not recommended risky or intense sports such as mountaineering, boxing, rugby, diving. Physical exercise should start with a short duration and low intensity that will be progressively increased.

Exercise should be performed regularly, the same number of times a week, if possible at the same time, better after a meal stronger. The time devoted to exercise also should be regular. It is advisable to practice sports or exercise if you have high blood sugar or glucose or ketones in the urine.

To avoid the risks or problems that may arise with the exercise we recommend:
• Always carry with you a card that identifies you as a diabetic.
• Have provided a self-analysis of glucose before and after exercise.
• Drink plenty of fluids and try not to exercise on very hot days, avoiding in all cases the hours when weather is warmer.
• If you are being treated with insulin, inject in the area (muscle group) that less becomes exercisable.
• If you are treated with pills or insulin, avoid exercising in the peak action of the drug.
• If exercise exceeds the hour, it is advisable to take supplements slow absorption of sugars.
• If you have vision, or heart or nervous system, avoid strenuous exercise, intense or force. Exercises should also be avoided in the head to be lowered in cases of impaired vision or proliferative retinopathy
• Always carry with you a little sweet.
• Do not forget to check with your doctor before you start making any kind of exercise.
