Reduces Complications of DM2

The risk of nonfatal myocardial infarction was reduced by 17%, and coronary heart disease by 15%.
The reduction “gradual and safe” blood glucose is beneficial to reduce the serious complications of diabetes, including macro vascular events, according to a meta-analysis of five major studies (UKPDS, ADVANCE, ACCORD, VADT, and Proactive) with 33,040 patients conducted by an independent team of researchers from the UK and whose results are published in the journal The Lancet (2009; 373:1765-1772).
The assessment criteria assessed included cardiovascular nonfatal myocardial infarction, coronary heart disease (myocardial infarction, fatal and non fatal), stroke and mortality associated with type 2 diabetes. After five years of treatment, the level of glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) media in patients who followed the intensive regimen of blood glucose was 0.9 percent lower than those receiving standard treatment. Therapy valacyclovir against genital herpes

Recurrent outbreaks of herpes simplex virus 2 (HSV2) or “genital herpes” can be treated effectively with a one-day therapy with valacyclovir (Valtrex), according to results of a pilot study published in the journal Sexually Transmitted Diseases.
To Dr. Stephen K. Tyring, Center for Health Sciences at the University of Texas in Houston, brought together 115 patients with recurrent HSV2 infection.
Patients received therapy one-day valacyclovir 4,000 milligrams (mg) in two doses of 2,000 mg, at the earliest signs of recurrence.
Participants performed monitoring the duration of their symptoms in diaries and collected genital swabs for viral cultures that were made 14 days after initiation of therapy. Read the rest of this entry »
Dermatitis can have many causes

A wide variety of substances can cause a skin condition called contact dermatitis, which is often controlled with a proper diagnosis and treatment, experts say.
Contact dermatitis is a chronic or acute inflammation of the skin resulting from contact with a chemical, biological, or physical. The most common culprits include cosmetics, perfumes, certain foods, nickel and other metals, cleaning solutions and detergents, industrial chemicals and rubber latex.
The majority (between 20 and 35 per cent) of cases of dermatitis affecting the hands, including over 75 percent of cases of contact dermatitis related to the workplace, according to experts at the annual meeting of the American College of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology (ACAAI) in Seattle. If a muscle is not given any work to do every little muscle fiber becomes thinner and all the muscle begins to lose its strength. Some groups of muscles weaken faster than others. When a footballer has a knee injury his quadriceps, muscles in the front of your thigh very quickly get weak. These muscles need exercise early on in order to increase your strength so you can return to your computer as soon as possible. It is also important that all patients are given exercises to restore muscle strength as soon as possible so as to minimize the amount of weakness that occurs. These early exercises, therefore, must be carefully designed so as to complement the other physical techniques. The exercises are needed for all muscle groups in the affected area and are adapted to each patient.
Ideally, the exercises are part of the course after the initial treatment of pain has decreased. Muscles only respond to the demands placed on them. When an injury has healed muscles to recover in response to the amount of work they are asked to do. If the limb is then muscle favors never recover its normal function. After a period in bed, during which time the leg muscles are completely inactive, you feel weak in the knees when. Stay in bed too long and the muscle fibers are so weak that one does not even power up. So in the case of a long illness or a long-term hamstring injury to take into account the specific work to do to build and restore the power required for each day of life.
