- Smokers Mild is the one that consumes less than 5 cigarettes per day on average. You have up to 15 times more likely to develop lung cancer than nonsmoking population.
- Moderate smoker: smoking is between 6 and 15 cigarettes per day average. Increases up to 40 times the odds of lung cancer.
- Severe smoker: smokes over 16 cigarettes per day on average. Increases up to 60 times the likelihood of lung cancer.

1. Prepare
* Set a date to quit smoking.* Change your environment.
* Throw away all cigarettes and ashtrays in your home, car and workplace.
* Do not let people smoke in your home.
* Remember, past attempts to quit smoking. Think about what worked and what did not.
2. Get help, support and encouragement
You can get support in many ways:
Tell your family, friends and co-workers who quit and want their support. Ask them not to smoke around you or leave cigarettes out.
Talk to your doctor and ask for help to achieve your goal. In some cases, may recommend medications that are helpful.
